Microsuction is an easy and safe way to remove excess ear wax. It’s done by using a medical suction unit with a small tip that is inserted into the ear canal. The tip has a small opening at its end, creating a vacuum that removes any excess wax inside the ear canal.
The traditional way of removing ear wax is by using a cotton swab or a Q-tip to push the wax out of the ear. This method can sometimes cause damage to the eardrum and other parts of the ear canal. Micro suction removes the wax without any damage to the sensitive structures in your ears.
Microsuction uses gentle vacuum pressure to remove excess cerumen (earwax) from your ears without pain or injury to your eardrum, middle ear, or hearing. The procedure is done with a tiny metal tube called an otoscope that has an attachment with a small, soft tip on it called an endoscope. This allows you to see what you are doing on a monitor screen in front of you.
It is an alternative to ear syringing, which involves pouring water into the canal.
